“Some personal news,” as they say: After five wonderful years at CIS, starting tomorrow (December 1) I’ll be transitioning into a new role as a Research Scholar at the Stanford Internet Observatory. I’ll continue to be a CIS affiliate (with blogging rights on this blog!), and my work will continue to focus on encryption, surveillance, and cybersecurity issues. 2021 is poised to be a consequential year for encryption policy in the U.S. and around the globe, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will keep posing novel challenges for our online privacy and security. I’m excited about my new role at SIO, and I’m deeply grateful to my colleagues at CIS and the Law School for making my time here so enjoyable. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with them, as well as my new colleagues at SIO and the Cyber Policy Center within which it sits, to produce impactful work on cutting-edge issues.
